RAHA 2016, an International Conference on Robotics and Automation for Humanitarian Applications, was held December 18- 20, 2016, at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus.
Amrita TBI, the government recognized technology business incubator of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is hosting the fifth edition of the popular national startup program titled Amrita TBI PitchFest on Jnauary 28- 29, 2017.
The first International Conference on Advanced Materials was inaugurated in the presence of a galaxy of scientists from over all the globe on December 19, 2016, by Dr. Amit Goyal, Director RENEW, University of Buffalo, USA. He emphasized the need of translating research findings in the field of materials sciences to useful products in order to help the society. “Recycle, Reuse and Re-manufacture are the need of the hour,” he added. He congratulated the institution for organizing a conference which addresses the need of sustained development.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri campus, won two prestigious awards at the recently held International Conference on Robotics and Automation for Humanitarian Applications RAHA 2016, Amritapuri, during December 18-20, 2016.
The Instrumentation Development Program (IDP) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, has extended a 2 year grant of more than Rs 4 million for further development and creation of a viable remote ECG Monitoring system for postoperative and high-risk cardiac patients. As an industry partner, Amrita Technologies will be also be a contributing entity in this project. The project is being spearheaded by Dr. Maneesha V. Ramesh from AmritaWNA, Dr. Natarajan from AIMS and Mr. Pradeep Achan from Amrita Technologies.
After months of preparation, Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, conducted the 20th edition of its national-level b-fest, Pragati, December 3rd– 4th, 2016. Pragati witnessed participation from more than 150 students from top business schools such as: IIT-Bombay, Thiagarajar School of Management and Christ University, KCT Business School, Rajagiri School of Business.
A meeting was arranged by IEEE-PES and IAS joint student branch chapter, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, on December 20, 2016. The aim of this meeting was to show appreciation for PES and IAS joint student branch committees and volunteers.
Dr. Sujay Chattopadhyay, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, University of Washington, Seattle, USA, with established expertise in Computational Genomics, visited the Amrita School of Biotechnology on December 14th, 2016. He gave a very insightful talk on “Adaptive Evolution in Microbial Genomes”, as a part of the invited lecture series.
Amrita Centre for Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine (ACNSMM), under Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham had been fortunate in its ability to successfully graduate 31 PhD graduates in the 10 years since its establishment. Most of them are currently doing post doctoral research or employed in research positions all over the world.
The students of both M. Tech. and Ph. D. and post doctoral researchers at Amrita Centre for Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine (ACNSMM), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi, have always been exemplary in their participation in national and international events related to their research work.
