The Department of Library (NDLI Club), Amrita School of Agricultural Sciences (ASA), organized a Webinar on the “NDLI User Awareness Program” on January 3, 2022 (11 AM), through MS Teams.
The Chief Guest Dr. Vignesh Sornamohan (Chief Strategic and Outreach Officer (CSO), NDLI from IIT Kharagpur), in his speech, explained the seven wings of NDLI and elaborated on the different types of resources ranging from books (6,796,433), articles (42,203, 184), audiobooks/ lectures (3770), video lectures (4,63,098), lecture presentation/ notes, simulation, question paper and solutions (42,074), thesis (7,40,722), etc., covering 80,533,490 resources freely accessible to learners of different age groups. The guest speaker also explained the search options like Author, Title, language and Publisher. Specific resources such as Krishi Kosh – Indian National Agricultural Research System, NPTEL, South Asia Archive, OECD Library, Librivox, World e-book library were also briefed by the CSO. Similarly, students and faculty members can also access thesis materials submitted by various universities through Inflibnet – Shodhganga and Shodhsindhu. The content created by different universities is deposited as a learning resource. Three hundred and eighty-six content contributors have shared and regularly update their resources in NDLI.
CSO also invited Amrita School of Agricultural Sciences, the pioneer agricultural institute in the NDLI club, to potentially contribute their valuable resources. Dr. Sudheesh Manalil (Principal and Head Research, ASA) while introducing the Chief Guest emphasized the importance of using digital resources in teaching, learning and research activities of the Institution.
The event was coordinated by Mr. Saravanan R. (Librarian of ASA). The Assistant Professors of ASA, Dr. Dhivyapriya D. and Dr. Iniyakumar M., assisted in conducting the webinar. A total of 360 NDLI club members attended and benefitted from the awareness program.
