Two student teams, “Scorpion” and “Paricharya” from the Humanitarian Technologies (HuT) labs of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, participated in the RoboCup German Open 2019 held at Magdeburg, Germany, from May 1-5, 2019.
The RoboCup@Home league aims to develop service and assistive robot technology with high relevance for future personal domestic applications. It is the largest international annual competition for autonomous service robots. A set of benchmark tests is used to evaluate the robots’ abilities and performance in a realistic non-standardized home environment setting. The robot was evaluated based on the criteria such as: Human-Robot-Interaction and Cooperation, Navigation and Mapping in dynamic environments, Computer Vision and Object Recognition under natural light conditions, Object Manipulation, Adaptive Behaviors, Behavior Integration, Ambient Intelligence, Standardization and System Integration.
The team “Scorpion”, comprised of students from Semester 4 and Semester 6 of B. Tech. Electronics and Communication Engineering: Ravi Teja Geesala, Hemanth T., Naga Sai T., Rahul P., Santosh T., Naveen S., Deepak N., Nigam K., Ravi Kiran P., Vamsi G., Ruthvik C. and Phanindra Kumar A.
The team “Paricharya” comprised of students from Semester 6 of B. Tech. Electronics and Communication Engineering: Akhil Tammana, Akhil Masetty, Rohit Raj, Nikhil Choudary, Vignesh V., Shriya Reddy, Jahnavi Y. and Manaswini M.
