Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was invited to participate in the Indo-German workshop on “Sensor Systems for Localization of Trapped Victims in Collapsed Infrastructure” (SORTIE) held during September 17-18, 2018, at the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. Amrita was represented by Prof. Sethuraman N. Rao, Associate Professor, Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications (AmritaWNA), Amritapuri.
The other Indian institutions that participated in the workshop included IIT Delhi, IISc Bangalore, Department of Science and Technology (DST), National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), Dhirendra Group of Companies (DGC) and Structural Solutions Private Limited. The German Institutions such as IMTEK- University of Freiburg, University of Applied Sciences, Koln, Fraunhofer IPM, Friedrich- Alexander University, Erlangen- Nuremberg and University of Armed Forces, Munich, also participated in the workshop.
The participants of the workshop will develop a joint proposal on this topic to be submitted to BMBF and DST, the German and Indian funding agencies respectively.
