Founded in 2006, the Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications (AmritaWNA) conducts research in theoretical and application areas of wireless networks and communication for humanitarian relief. The Center's major research areas include the design, development, and deployment of Wireless Communication Systems, Wireless Networking Systems, Wireless Sensor Networks, Internet of Things, Mobile Communication Networks, Mobile Ad Hoc Networks, Participatory Sensing, Context Aware Systems, and Mobile Computing Systems. Our past contributions have resulted in the design, development and deployment of the world’s first Wireless Sensor Network System for Landslide Monitoring and Early Warning, India’s first Landslide Simulation Laboratory, India’s first Remote Triggered Wireless Sensor Network Laboratory, and India’s first Offshore Communication Network. AmritaWNA's research has translated into several patents, publications, awards, and recognition by India's Rajya Sabha and by the United Nations Academic Impact initiative.
The Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications (Amrita WNA) is a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary Center for teaching and research at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kollam campus. Launched in 2006, Amrita WNA began as a R&D Center with the vision of promoting, developing, and applying the use of wireless technologies in a variety of fields that would benefit society.
Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications offers highly interdisciplinary and career-enriching M.Tech and PhD programs that help students identify their career paths and upskill themselves to be future-ready. The academic curriculum has been specifically designed and regularly updated in collaboration with industry, national and international university partners. With a strong focus on hands-on experiential learning, our 160+ alumni work in various positions in highly sought-after companies and academia.
