The teacher and students of Amrita Education Center at Goa harvested the first kitchen garden at the premises of the center on September 9, 2017. The initiative was taken by Ms. Supriya Gaonkar, the teacher at Amrita Education Center at Goa.

Amrita Educational Centers are runned in the rural and tribal villages adopted by Mata Amritanandamayi Math all over the country through Amrita RITE project developed and designed by AmritaCREATE, one of the research initiatives of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

One of the components of this program is to increase health awareness in villages starting from the children and their parents. Employing a practical hands-on approach, malnutrition and its solutions are taught by growing kitchen gardens adjacent to the Education Center.
