The 16th Convocation of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, was held on August 31, 2019. 1656 students from the disciplines of Engineering, Business, Arts & Sciences, Mass Communication and Social Work received their degrees. These included 15 PhDs and 60 medalists.
Sampujya Swami Ramakrishnananda Puri, (Treasurer of Mata Amritanandamayi Math and Senior Disciple of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Chancellor Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amma), delivered the benedictory address. In his address, Swamiji urged the graduates to leverage the transformational education at Amrita and contribute back to the society once they found success in their careers.
Mr. R. Ramanan (Mission Director, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog) delivered the convocation address. In his address, Mr. Ramanan exhorted the graduates to become job creators rather than job seekers. Despite the fact that India is the fastest growing economy in the world, with demographic dividend and technology, there were a million challenges faced by the country. National initiatives like Atal Innovation Mission have created a vibrant startup ecosystem in India.
Mr. Sai Krishna Mopuri (MD, Analog Devices, India) was the guest of honor. Dr. K. Sankaran (Registrar, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham), Prof. C. Parameswaran (Director, Corporate & Industry Relations, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham) and Dr. Sasangan Ramanathan (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham), participated in the convocation proceedings.
