Three student groups from the Humanitarian Technology (HuT) Labs of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, made it into the semifinals of the fourth annual CISCO Global Problem Solver Challenge 2020. The selection was from a pool of 525 submissions from all over the world, and only 49 entries were selected for the semifinals. The project entries from the Humanitarian Technologies (HuT) Labs from Amritapuri Campus were chosen for the semifinals of the Cisco Global Problem Solver Challenge 2020.
‘Amaran’ student group’s submission was titled “Unmanned Robotic Coconut Tree Climber and Harvester”. The team comprised of students from Semester 4 of B. Tech. Electronics and Communication Engineering: Sakthiprasad K. M., Akhil Raj, Avinash Hegde and Vijaya Krishna Tejaswi.
‘Karachara’ student group’s submission was titled “Hand Orthotic Device for Stroke Patients”. The team comprised of students from Semester 4 of B. Tech. Electronics and Communication Engineering: Shree Rajesh Raagul V., Pavanth Chenna Reddy, Anirudh Dasari, Sai Muneesh and Sri Ram.
‘Suraksha’ student group’s submission was titled “Crop Protection from Animal Attacks”. The team comprised of students from Semester 6 of B. Tech. Electronics and Communication Engineering: Mahendran J., Arjun S., Samudrala Naveen, Sreevatsava Reddy and Hemanth Nidamanuru (S6 ECE).
The student groups were mentored by Dr. Rajesh Kannan Megalingam who heads the HuTs Lab and is an Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri.
The Cisco Global Problem Solver Challenge 2020 is a worldwide search for early-stage technology-enabled solutions and services that can enable economic development and/or benefit society and/or the environment. This competition is open to individuals and teams of students, or recent alumni from any college or university. The prize money will help accelerate the adoption of breakthrough technology, products, and services that drive economic development and/or solve social or environmental problems.
