Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Università degli Studi di Milano (University of Milan, Italy) covering research and student and staff exchanges between the Universities. On November 11, 2018, during Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma), Amrita Chancellor’s public event at Busto Arsizio, Italy, Prof. Antonella Della Fave of University of Milan (UNIMI) exchanged the formally signed MoU between the two universities. Prof. Elio Franzini, the rector, had signed on behalf of UNIMI.
Amrita and UNIMI have had joint Indo-Italy projects since 2005. The ongoing Indo-Italy POC project is between Dr. Ram Manohar, Research Director, Amrita Center for Advanced Research in Ayurveda (ACARA, Amrita School of Ayurveda) and Dr. Antonella Della Fave, Full Professor, Department of Pathophysiology and Transplantation on Integrative Medicine.
Several alumni from UNIMI such as Prof. Prasanna Ramani, PhD in Chemistry, 2007, currently at Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore campus and Prof. Shyam Diwakar, PhD in Mathematics, 2008, currently at Amrita School of Biotechnology, Amritapuri campus, have been sharing projects and connecting to UNIMI through their current work at Amrita in addition to the more formal Indo-Italy project. The MoU was signed in the presence of Prof. Maneesha Ramesh, Dean, International programs, Prof. Krishnashree Achuthan, Dean of PG Programs, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, and Prof. Shyam Diwakar with Prof. Antonella. The MoU between the Universities was facilitated by Amrita Center for International Programs – ACIP.
