Dr. Maneesha V. Ramesh, Director and Professor at Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications (AmritaWNA) and Dean for Amrita Center for International Programs, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, attended a one- day Technical Workshop consisting of the first batch of the Young Faculty Research Fellows (YFRF) of the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore on 28th July, 2017. Dr. Maneesha is the winner of the prestigious ‘Young Faculty Research Fellowship’ under the Visveswaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT of DeitY for the year 2015-16. The fellowship is effective from May 2016 for 5 years.
The Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme was started to encourage working professionals and non- PhD faculty members to pursue PhD in ESDM and IT/TES sectors as part- time candidates. The program provides thrust to research and development, to create an innovative ecosystem and enhances India’s competitiveness in these knowledge intensive sectors.
The workshop was organised by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India and was also attended by the Members of the Academic Committee of the PhD Programme including Prof. S.V. Raghavan, Scientific Secretary (Retd.), Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India & Chairman, Academic Committee and senior officials of MeitY.
