In addition to the Live-in-Labs program, Amrita university has many students’ volunteering programs such as Amrita Learning to Integrate Values & Excellence (ALIVE), Sahaya (the social outreach club), Amrita Quench (the water harvesting & conservation club), and National Service Scheme (NSS), that have been flourishing for many years. These clubs consisting of students and staff from diverse backgrounds, organize outreach activities on a periodic basis. Volunteers, including students from foreign universities, all come together in order to help fulfill the needs of society’s most vulnerable groups.

Most of these programs have been developed in collaboration with NGOs and help achieve a number of SDGs, from ending poverty and hunger to promoting well-being for all of all ages, ensuring inclusive quality education, achieving gender equality, and taking action to preserve the environment.

Students’ volunteering programs include visits and activities in old-age homes, orphanages, and homes for mentally-challenged people, teaching young children in rural areas, organizing blood donation camps, awareness-raising activities, and organizing waste management campaigns.
