In the recently held XIII Annual State Conference of the Kairali Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathologists at Hotel Dunes Cochin during March 5-6, 2016, Dr. Lisha Mathew, Second-year Postgraduate Trainee, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Microbiology, Amrita School of Dentistry, won the BEST SCIENTIFIC PRESENTATION AWARD in the case reports category
Dr. Liju George, second year MD Resident, Department of Microbiology, Amrita School of Medicine, received first prize for her poster titled “Evaluation of Gene Xpert MTB/RIF Versus Smear Microscopy and Liquid Culture in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Kochi, Kerala” at a Continuing Medical Education (CME) organised by Department of Microbiology, Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram & Academy of Clinical Microbiologist on February 27, 2016. She was guided by Dr. Sadia Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology, Amrita School of Medicine.

Krishnan and Remya M., Postgraduates in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Amrita School of Dentistry, have won the best scientific paper award for presenting scientific papers at the 14th CAESOK Midterm Conference and 6th PG Convention, held at Hotel Arcadia, Kottayam, during March 12-13, 2016.
John Joseph, Senior Research Fellow and PhD student at Amrita Center for Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine, won the ‘Best Poster Award’ in the Poster Session “Walkway of Discovery” at the 8th Bangalore INDIA NANO 2016. Bangalore INDIA NANO 2016, India’s Flagship Nanotech Event, was held at the Lalit Ashok, Bangalore, on March 3rd, 2016.
Amrita Ph.D. Scholar, Mr. Kuruvachan K. George, has achieved global recognition in the recently held ‘Speakers in the Wild’ (SITW) Speaker Recognition Challenge organized by SRI International, Silicon Valley, United States. The speaker recognition technology developed at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham as part of his Ph.D. work secured 6th rank in the challenge.
The research team at the Machine Intelligence Research Lab, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, bagged the best paper award at the 12th IEEE India International Conference INDICON 2015, held at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, from 17th-20th December, 2015.
Students of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri Campus, won major prizes in several categories at the OMRG 2016 Robotics Contest held at Singapore on February 21, 2016. Twenty-one teams from different countries contested in the final round.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham won first prize in the Mime and Debate competition at the 31st Inter University National Youth Festival, “Yuva Shatha Sambhrama – 2016”, held at University of Mysore from 15th–19th February, in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi and Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Government of India. Nearly 70 universities from all over India participated in various events.
