In the 2016 Formula Hybrid Competition, students from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham secured third position in the ‘Hybrid in Progress’ category. The team made their debut appearance, building a race car for the first time.
Students from Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru campus, have emerged winners in the Microsoft’s National College Hacking Contest- Build the Shield.
Sixteen students of Amrita School of Engineering were selected to Google Summer of Code’s and Outreachy project internships. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham nationally stands 3rd in the number of Google Summer of Code selects among other universities. Amrita is the youngest institution to reach the top three positions in the list. IIIT Hyderabad and BITS stood ahead of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
Dr. Akshay Omkumar, second-year MCh resident in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Amrita School of Medicine, won the first prize in the Prof. R. N. Sinha Memorial Essay Competition 2015 for the topic “Toe Transfer v/s Allotransplantation in Bilateral Amputees at Below Elbow Level”. Dr. Akshay received the award at the Kerala Plastic Surgery State Conference held at Trivandrum on April 23, 2016.
Amrita Students won Cisco’s first-ever “Great Digital India Challenge – iDeate” – an event focused on Internet of Things (IoT) based ideation challenge for India. The first prize for the project SMART WATER includes Rs. 2,50, 000 and was awarded to Amrita School of Engineering Coimbatore’s Akshay, Surya, Parthasarathy and Murali Siva, 3rd year B.Tech. Electrical and Electronics Engineering students.
Dr. Indu M. Menon and Dr. Pooja N., House Surgeons of Amrita School of Ayurveda, participated in the state level competition of “Ayurwiz’3- a National level quiz competition” conducted by Himalaya Herbals and stood first among 7 teams who competed at this level.
As part of the B. Tech. elective course, coded HUM 259, Understanding Science of Food and Nutrition, a workshop on Food Service Management and Dietetics was organized by the department of Humanities under the guidance of Dr. Janci Rani P. R. and Dr. Tharanidevi N. on 31st March and 1st April 2016.

He is selected as a member of Jr. Indian Team to represent the country at the Asian Power Lifting Championship scheduled to be held on 1st week of June’ 2016 at Udaipur.
The Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Branch of Amrita School of Engineering (ASE), Coimbatore, has been adjudged as best CSI Student Branch in India for the fifth consecutive year.
