Sixteen students of Amrita School of Engineering were selected to Google Summer of Code’s and Outreachy project internships. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham nationally stands 3rd in the number of Google Summer of Code selects among other universities. Amrita is the youngest institution to reach the top three positions in the list. IIIT Hyderabad and BITS stood ahead of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
A special talk on “Internet of Energy: Implication on Infrastructure and Democratization of Energy Use” by Dr. Priyaranjan Mishra, Principal Scientist, Philips – India, was organized by the student branch of IEEE Power Electronics Society, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru on April 15, 2016.
Dr. Anura Jayasumana, a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Colorado State University, USA, visited the Kochi and Amritapuri campuses in early 2016.
Amrita Students won Cisco’s first-ever “Great Digital India Challenge – iDeate” – an event focused on Internet of Things (IoT) based ideation challenge for India. The first prize for the project SMART WATER includes Rs. 2,50, 000 and was awarded to Amrita School of Engineering Coimbatore’s Akshay, Surya, Parthasarathy and Murali Siva, 3rd year B.Tech. Electrical and Electronics Engineering students.
Dr. Dietmar Jennewein, a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Plastics Engineering, University of Applied Sciences, Darmstadt, Germany visited the Amritapuri and Coimbatore campuses in early 2016.
Brave New Woman in a Brave New World is a series of sensitization programs planned for B.Tech. female students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Coimbatore campus. A program held on April 6,2016, helped the students to understand and appreciate the role of young women personally and in society.
Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, is part of a growing research-based institution in India. Technical project internships are being opened from 2016 summer under various research topics, and will be offered regularly henceforth. We expect research-minded students to avail the opportunity to be part of intuitive research being conducted in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, organized a two day National Workshop on “Trends and Developments in Photonics and Optical Communication (TDPOC) 2016” from March 28th – 29th 2016.
As part of the B. Tech. elective course, coded HUM 259, Understanding Science of Food and Nutrition, a workshop on Food Service Management and Dietetics was organized by the department of Humanities under the guidance of Dr. Janci Rani P. R. and Dr. Tharanidevi N. on 31st March and 1st April 2016.
