Amrita Kalotsavam 2019 was officially inaugurated on April 12, 2019 by Dr. Bipin Nair, Dean, School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri. The colourful festivities began with a prayer followed by lighting the lamp.
Providing a great venue for the students to sweat it out and battle for glory, BIOLYMPICS 2019, the annual Sports meet of School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, was conducted on February 6-8, 2019.
The student team of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, bagged the first prize in Group Music (Indian) at the 34th Inter-University South Zone Youth Festival 2018 “Padmotsav” held from October 7-11, 2018, in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. South Zone comprises of over 100 universities in the region.
On February 4, 2019, Dr. Shyam Diwakar, from the Centre for Computational Neuroscience and Neurophysiology, School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, met with the University of Milan La Statale’s Rector, Prof. Elio Franzini and had a discussion on augmenting joint possibilities with both Universities.
The DataScientia consortium of founding members includes Italy’s University of Trento, the National University of Mongolia, India’s Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, China’s Jilin University, Paraguay’s Catholic University of Asunción, South Africa’s Tshwane University of Technology and UK’s Heriot-Watt University.
As part of its commitment towards pursuing academic and scientific excellence, School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, has added a high-tech Microbial Active Genetics Lab to its world-class research facilities. It was a day of great pride for the Amrita Biotech community as Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, President of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, inaugurated the advanced scientific laboratory on January 3, 2019.
On October 31st, 2018, Dr. Shyam Diwakar of Amrita School of Biotechnology (ASBT) was invited to give a talk on “Online Engineering and Virtual Laboratories in India: Learners and Teachers Beyond Traditional Classrooms” to professors and their international office team at the Munich Center for Neurosciences– Brain & Mind (MCN) at Munich, Germany.
In another stellar display of its academic excellence, 42 students and young researchers from the Amrita School of Biotechnology (ASBT) have presented 11 peer-reviewed papers at the International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communications and Informatics (ICACCI) held between 11th and 15th of September, 2018 at PES University, Bengaluru, India.
The collaboration between Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s School of Biotechnology and Tata Institute of Genetics and Society (TIGS) will focus on developing new tools to reverse antibiotic resistance in pathogens like Pseudomonas aeruginosa which have been declared as ‘critical priority’ by the World Health Organization.
The celebrations of language and lights were conducted by CREATOME, the students’ club at School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri, on November 5, 2018 at the campus. The event was at its pinnacle, elevating the spirit of our mother tongue Malayalam.
