The AMMACHI Labs (Amrita Multi Modal Applications Using Computer & Human Interaction) inaugurated the newly constructed Research Center and new Amrita Makerspace on 24th August, 2017.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham faculty members was awarded a grant of Rs. 37.24 lakhs from the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) for developing a novel electrochemical packed bed reactor technology for removing heavy metals from water.

The AmritaCREATE Team of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, is one of eight semifinalists advancing in the $7 million Barbara Bush Foundation Adult Literacy XPRIZE presented by Dollar General Literacy Foundation. The Adult Literacy XPRIZE is a global competition, challenging teams to develop a mobile application for existing smart devices that results in the greatest increase in literacy skills among participating adult learners.

Amrita Samyogam 2017, an International Conference on Integrative Ayurveda and Modern Medicine was held at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, on August 6-7. 2017. The conference was attended by more than 1000 delegates representing Ayurveda, Modern Medicine and Modern Science.
