Dr. Maya Mahajan, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, initiated a new sustainable development project. She has been working with tribal communities of Singampathy, Sarkarporathy and Kalkotipathy to make furniture from the forest weed, Lantana and thereby helping them create a sustainable livelihood in the modern world.
Students and faculty members of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham MBA Programme, Kochi, visited the Amrita Institute for Differently Abled at Vallummel, Kochi, as part of Social Outreach activities, on January 19, 2017, under the guidance of Dr. N. R. Menon. They spent time with the students and inmates there, who exhibited their talents in dancing, singing and acting.

Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, hosted a student outreach program on behalf of Amrita Networking Club to make students aware of concepts of networking. Students and teachers from The Kendriya Vidyalaya, DRDO branch were invited to attend the event. A total of 42 students of PUC 2nd year and 4 teachers attended the event with great interest.
