On February 28, 2019, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was invited to participate in a Cross Cultural Educational Symposium with Colorado State University at Taj Gateway Hotel in Kochi.
As part of the Live-in-Labs® program, Engineering students from Coimbatore campus visited the Dewgain village in Namkum tehsil, Ranchi, Jharkhand. Even though about 90% of the population of Dewgain village are dependent on agriculture, severe water scarcity during the summer months had caused the agricultural yield in the village to go down in recent years.

As part of a mass effort to bring clean drinking water to over 5,000 villages via Amrita’s Jivamritam initiative, 71 college students from 20 universities in Japan spent 10 days living and working in the Alappuzha district of Kerala.

During the visit, Amrita faculty members met Dr. Bob Nanes, Executive director and instructor of D-Lab at MIT.
