Amrita College of Nursing organized a two-day national conference on Organ Transplant from November 20-21, 2015 at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. The conference was themed “Organ Transplant– Together, Towards Tomorrow.”
The Society for Emergency Medicine India, (SEMI) full time member of International Federation for Emergency Medicine (IFEM), has recognised the contributions made by Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in the field of Emergency Medicine and has given AIMS an award for Excellence in Emergency Medicine.

In the recently held National Conference of the Indian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathologists(IAOMP) at Jaipur during November 20 – 22, 2015, Dr. Aiswarya A. Krishnan, second year postgraduate trainee, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and Microbiology, Amrita School of Dentistry won the first prize in the scientific presentation category.
International Conference of Physician Assistants (IAPACON 2015) was organized at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciencesfrom October 10-11, 2015. The conference was organized by the Indian Association of Physician Assistants (IAPA) in association with International Academy of Physician Associate Educators (IAPAE) & Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS).
Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Center(AIMS) has been awarded the coveted British Medical Journal Award 2015 for the Best Surgical Team of South Asia. The Amrita team won the award for its two successful double hand transplants. This is the second consecutive year that the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences received the BMJ Award. Its paediatric cardiology team won the award in 2014 for quality improvement in healthcare.
Dr. Balagopal Varma R., Professor & Head, Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Principal of Amrita School of Dentistry received the “Star Pedodontist” award at the 37th National Conference of Indian Society of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry held at Raipur from October 7-10, 2015.
Dr. Narendra Kumar, Head, Quality Assurance, Orchid Healthcare Ltd., Sriperumbudur, Irungattukottai, Chennai, addressed B.Pharm. and M.Pharm. students of Amrita School of Pharmacy on September 19, 2015 on “An Overview of Intellectual Property Rights in Pharmaceutical Industry.”
The farewell of the outgoing students of MSc Nursing 2013 batch, Post Basic BSc Nursing 2013 batch & BSc Nursing 2011 batch and inauguration of 2015 UG and PG programs of Amrita College of Nursing were held at the Health Sciences campus on August 12, 2015.
The dedication of the Center of Excellence in Organ Transplantation and the felicitation of Hand Transplant team & donors were held at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences on September 8, 2015.
