On 9th December 2018, Dr. Arun Mamachan Xavier, Reader, Department of Paediatric Dentistry, School of Dentistry, Amrita Health Sciences Campus, Kochi, was presented with the highly coveted ”Specialist Dentist of the Year – Pedodontics” award at the prestigious ‘Famdent Excellence in Dentistry Awards 2018’ held in Mumbai.
On 28th December 2018, Dr. Subramania Iyer, Chairman and Professor, Plastic Surgery and Head & Neck Surgery, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, was awarded the prestigious SIEMENS- GAPIO (Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin) Innovation Award in Medicine for performing ‘Hand Transplant Surgery’ for the first time in India.

A team of 12 surgeons of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (Amrita Hospital), Kochi campus, removed a huge tumour, weighing a whopping five kilos and measuring 20 x 15 x 10 cm, from 45-year-old Majeed in a surgery that lasted 12 hours.
