Dr. Hisham Ahamed, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Project Lead at the Amrita Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, underwent Advanced Cardiovascular MRI Training, with a focus on the imaging of cardiomyopathies, ischemic heart disease, cardio-oncology and heart failure and transplantation over the period of two weeks at the prestigious cardiac imaging program at the Heart Center, Red Cross Hospital, Lisbon, Portugal, during November 1-15, 2019.
Among neglected tropical diseases, lymphatic filariasis remains dominant due to its disabling and disfiguring manifestations. One of the disturbing features of this disease is that the majority of the diseased are in their advanced old age and are the poorest of the poor.
Dr. Tinku Joseph (Consultant Interventional Pulmonologist, Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences) was invited to deliver guest lectures on (a) Rigid Bronchoscopy (b) Airway Stenting in TE Fistula and (c) Role of Cryobiopsy in ILD, at the 5th Annual Scientific Meeting of Malaysian Association of Bronchology & Interventional Pulmonology (MABIP), held during October 18-20, 2019, at Malaysia.
On November 11, 2019, the Kerala State Renewable Energy Award in the category of Research and Innovation was presented to the Kochi campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, by Kerala Chief Minister Mr. Pinnarayi Vijayan on behalf of ANERT, the Agency for Non-Conventional Energy and Rural Technologies, at a function held in Trivandrum.
