The innovator Vishnu Padmanaban and his team member M. Ramesh Nachiappan, final-year students of BTech (Mechanical Engineering) of 2010-2014 batch at the Coimbatore campus received awards for their innovative product, “Cost Effective Vegetable Chiller for Rural Small Farmers.”
Vishnu Padmanaban of Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, was selected to represent the national member society, SAE India, for the FISITA Travelling Fellowship Award. He also presented a paper at the FISITA Student Congress 2014 held from 2-6 June 2014, in MECC Maastricht Conference Venue, the Netherlands. Vishnu Padmanabanis a final year Mechanical Engineering student of 2010-2014 batch.
Vijayalakshmi S., from Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore campus, was selected to represent India at ESOMAR’s APAC 2015 Conference to be held in Singapore. She is from the Institute’s 2013-2015 batch of marketing majors and has always had a penchant for the subject. She had prior work experience of about three years in mainline advertising from premier agencies in India such as Lowe Lintas and RKSwamy BBDO before taking up her MBA at Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by the Chancellor Master and Scholars of the University of Oxford acting for its Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology and by Dr. Bipin Nair, the Dean of Amrita School of Biotechnology, for Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham on January 12th, 2015.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham will now be able to access new technology after being named a CUDA Research Center by NVIDIA. With this Amrita will join Imperial College London, Purdue University, IIT Rourkee and others as a NVIDIA designated research center.
The Amrita ABB Robotics Lab, the first of its kind by an Indian university, was inaugurated at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham(Amritapuri Campus) on February 25th by Shri. P. K. Kunhalikutty, Minister of Industries and IT, Government of Kerala. The state of the art lab is expected to herald a new era for robotics research and academics in India. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s AMMACHI Labs has collaborated with ABB Robotics for setting up the Robotics Research Lab with two ROS-Industrial robots.
