On 8 July at United Nations Headquarters, the United Nations Academic Impact Initiative (UNAI) and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham co-hosted a one-day conference on “Technology for Sustainable Development”.

Amrita School of Business (ASB), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, was recently represented at the International Conference on Yoga for Holistic Health held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, on 22 June 2015. Prof. C. S. Udhayakumar, Associate Professor of ASB was an invited speaker at the 7th technical interactive panel session in the International Conference.
Dr. Shanmugha Sundaram G. A., Assistant Professor, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore campus was selected to present a paper titled Big-Data Perspective to Operating an SKA-Type Synthesis Array Radio Telescope at the XXIX General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) to be held from August 3-14, 2015 at Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
Sricharan Chiruvolu, a 6th Semester BTech student from the department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, has been accepted as a Student Developer for Google Summer of Code 2015.
Amrita Center for Humanitarian Operations and Management’s (ACHOM) research activity has contributed to the presentation of Prof. Bhavani’s PhD work on “The AAA Humanitarian Operations: Learning from MA Math’s Experience” in the 26th Annual Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) Conference 2015 held at Washington D.C. from May 8-11, 2015.
Surya Seetharaman, a third year B.Tech CSE student from the Amritapuri campus, was recently awarded a fully-funded merit scholarship to complete her Master’s degree at KTH – Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. Currently enrolled in the Integrated 3+2 program, a collaborative initiative between Amrita and KTH, Surya was one among 55 awardees of the competitive scholarship which had an application pool of over 1,600 worldwide.
The innovator Vishnu Padmanaban and his team member M. Ramesh Nachiappan, final-year students of BTech (Mechanical Engineering) of 2010-2014 batch at the Coimbatore campus received awards for their innovative product, “Cost Effective Vegetable Chiller for Rural Small Farmers.”
