Five years ago, a group of socially committed Amritians decided to conduct a cycle rally. This September 22nd, 2015 marked its 5th prolific edition. In the current juncture when the world is finding it difficult to cope with escalating air pollution, the event was really relevant. September 22nd is celebrated as “world car free day” and as a part of it, Amrita Sanjeevani, the seva organisation at Amritapuri Campus, conducted a cycle rally and 10 km fun run from Karunagapally to Amritapuri.
The IEEE Power Electronics Society Student Branch Chapter was inaugurated by Dr. Priya Ranjan Mishra, Principal Scientist, Philips, Bangalore and Dr. Balaraman Kannan, PRDC, Vice Chair of PES Chapter, Bangalore at the Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru Campus on September 10th, 2015.
The Department of Mathematics, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru organized a two-day workshop on Graph Theory and its Applications on 6th and 7th August 2015. About 30 delegates from various engineering colleges of India and around 30 members, including faculty members, research scholars and M.Tech. students from Amrita, attended the workshop.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Amritapuri Campus will observe World Car Free Day on September 22 by conducting a bicycle rally from Karunagappally to the campus involving many students and staff.
On 12th September 2015, a national seminar on engineering software was conducted by Dr. Selva Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore.
A national workshop on Open Source Systems was conducted on September 12, 2015, by Mr. Sreedhu Krishnan, Senior Technical Trainer, Infosys, Mysuru. His emphasis was on more flexible technology which would allow quicker innovation through modular systems and create custom interfaces to add new abilities.
The farewell of the outgoing students of MSc Nursing 2013 batch, Post Basic BSc Nursing 2013 batch & BSc Nursing 2011 batch and inauguration of 2015 UG and PG programs of Amrita College of Nursing were held at the Health Sciences campus on August 12, 2015.
The dedication of the Center of Excellence in Organ Transplantation and the felicitation of Hand Transplant team & donors were held at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences on September 8, 2015.
The 12th Convocation of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was held at Coimbatore campus on September 7, 2015. Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Honourable Union Minister, Ministry of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Government of India and Shri. N. Chandrasekaran, CEO, TCS, were the Guests of Honour at the convocation ceremony.
Dr. Madhavan Chalat, a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of British Columbia’s Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, addressed the students and faculty of Amrita School of Biotechnology on August 20, 2015.
