Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham participated in the 12th FICCI Higher Education Summit 2016, a global conference and exhibition, held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, from 10th to 12th November, 2016. The summit was inaugurated by Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on November 10th.
The United Nations has officially made Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham India’s first-ever UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment. The official bestowing of the UNESCO Chair took place before an audience of 8,000 people during a spiritual programme of the University’s Chancellor Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi in Paris on October 30, 2016.

CSI has recognized 50 distinguished speakers from among its membership base of over 200,000 all over India and abroad. The services of these speakers are made available to over 500+ colleges and universities in India with CSI student branches. Mr. Prashant R. Nair, Vice-Chairman and Dr. Shriram K. Vasudevan, Assistant Professor (Selection Grade), both from the department of Computer Science & Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore have been recognized as CSI Distinguished speakers.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham organized a national workshop on the ‘Role of Universities in Empowering Indian Villages’ at Coimbatore Campus from September 21-23, 2016. Over 100 experts attended the event, which began with a tree plantation drive in which 150 trees were planted by nearly 100 students and staff of the institution.
Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore (ASB) started the placements for the students of Class of 2017 this month, with the salary per annum running up to Rs. 12 lakhs for international placement. ASB has continued its illustrious legacy and begun the placements early.
