In this regard, researchers at the Amrita School of Biotechnology (ASBT), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, were thrilled to find that their work which was recently published in the USA based journal Bioorganic Chemistry (Kalyanvenkatraman S. et al, 66, 72-79, 2016) was the research pick of the week in Nature India.
Prof. Asoke Banerji, School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was honoured for his outstanding contributions to Phytochemistry at the one day ‘International Symposium on Phytochemistry and Prof. A. Hisham Endowment Award’ ceremony.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has had partnered with The India-Canada Centre for Innovative Multidisciplinary Partnerships to Accelerate Community Transformation and Sustainability (IC-IMPACTS) to develop and implement community-based solutions to meet the most urgent needs of Canada and India: poor water quality, unsafe and unsustainable infrastructure, and poor health from waterbornewater-borne and infectious diseases. The collaboration is to develop and test local solutions that can be scaled up across India and Canada.
Researchers from Amrita School of Biotechnology presented posters at the XXXIX All India Cell Biology Conference, organized jointly by Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) and Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, from December 6-8, 2015.
Dr. Maneesh Mailankot, Associate Professor & Scientist, from Department of Biochemistry, Pushpagiri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center addressed the students and faculty of Amrita School of Biotechnology on January 20th 2015. His talk was titled “Vascular Endothelial Cells Apoptosis in Diabetic Retinopathy.”
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Dr. Shyam Diwakar presented on “Virtual Labs in India” at the Online Labs Workshop organized by Prof. Michael Auer and Danilo Zutin from CTI, Villach, Austria on Jan 10, 2016 at Pune. The preconference workshop was scheduled during the Third International Conference on Transformations in Engineering Education, organized by College of Engineering, Pune.
On December 16, 2015 NVIDIA India awarded Dr. Shyam Diwakar the NVIDIA Innovation Award for Amrita School of Biotechnology’s work on Computational Neuroscience. The award was received by Ms. Manjusha Nair on Dr. Shyam’s behalf at the Professor’s meet event co-located with IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing (HiPC 2015).

The event is hosted and locally organized by Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture, Erice (Italy).
