Dr. Maneesha V. Ramesh, Dean, International Programs and Director, Amrita Centre for Wireless Networks and Applications (Amrita WNA) represented Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham at the ‘Future of Education Summit’ held in Noida on 7th April, 2017.
The first MedSim workshop in Karnataka was conducted at Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Hassan, on April 18, 2017. It was coordinated by Dr. Girish Babu, Programme Coordinator, Professor and Head, Department of Dentistry. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Sreejith and Mr. Ashish Mohan, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
As an effort of implementing the vision of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Chancellor, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, (Amma), staff and students of Amrita Center for Wireless Networks & Applications (Amrita WNA) organized “Vishuthaineettam” for the 3rd year in a row. This year, the theme was, “I support One, Green and Clean World”.
It is really exciting for children in primary grades to march off to the next grade classroom with new backpacks, books, crayons, pencils and other school supplies. AmritaCREATE, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, makes this wish possible for many rural children from economically- challenged families at 48 centers in 21 states across the country, through the Amrita RITE Project.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has been ranked ninth best among all universities in India under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), MHRD.
Amritakalotsavam 2017 was celebrated at the School of Biotechnology on April 3 – 4, 2017, showcasing the artistic talents of the students. The festivities were inaugurated by Dr. Bipin Nair, Dean, followed by a lamp lighting and concluded with Ranga pooja to set the joyous spirit for the occasion.
Amrita Sparsham Ayurveda Cancer Clinic, an initiative of Amrita Ayurveda Hospital and the Amrita Centre for Advanced Research in Ayurveda (ACARA), Amritapuri, was inaugurated on March 29, 2017, at Amrita School of Ayuveda.
An article on Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s research,”From Waste to Wealth:Traditional Medicine, Natural Products and the Molecular Basis of Therapeutics”, has been published at the United Nations Academic Impact website.
As part of Online Labs Training Program and Amrita Rural Tablet Education Project, Mr. Suresh Dhandapani, AmritaCREATE team member, visited different schools and villages in Telangana from February 18- 22, 2017.
A paper on Sakshat Amrita Virtual Labs titled, “Complementing Education via Virtual Labs: Implementation and Deployment of Remote Laboratories and Usage Analysis in South Indian Villages”, published in 2016 by International Journal of Online Engineering (iJOE), was awarded the “iJOE Outstanding Paper Award”.
