Amrita faculty member, Mr. Shyam Diwakar, Director, Computational Neuroscience and Neurophysiology, and Associate Professor at Amrita School of Biotechnology, was invited to give talks at IIT Hyderabad and IIT Madras on August 17th and 23rd August, 2017.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s PhD students Hemalatha Sasidharakurup and Nidheesh Melethadathil, along with, Dr. Bipin Nair, Dean, School of Biotechnology, Amritapuri, and Dr. Shyam Diwakar, Director, Computational Neuroscience and Neurophysiology, Amritapuri, published a paper titled, “A Systems Model of Parkinson’s Disease Using Biochemical Systems Theory” in OMICS: A Journal of Integrative Biology, in the month of August 2017.
The AMMACHI Labs (Amrita Multi Modal Applications Using Computer & Human Interaction) inaugurated the newly constructed Research Center and new Amrita Makerspace on 24th August, 2017.
A one-day workshop on Online Labs for School Lab Experiments was conducted at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya School, Ludhiana, Punjab, on August 19, 2017. The workshop was organized by AmritaCREATE, one of the research projects under Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Twenty science teachers from thirteen schools participated in the workshop.
Amrita School of Biotechnology conducted a seminar titled “Phytochemicals: validation of Mother Nature’s values: A brief glimpse of evidence based research”, on 14th August, 2017, and the resource person of the event was Dr. Sanjit Dey, Professor at the Department of Physiology, University of Calcutta.
Tummala Akhil Suman, 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri, participated in the South India Power Lifting Championship and bagged gold medal in sub junior, 105 weight Category.
The mechanical design engineers at AMMACHI Labs (Amrita Multi Modal Applications Using Computer & Human Interaction), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, used 3D modeling to design N easy-to-make toilet, with less material and skilled labour, which will benefit thousands of families in rural India.
AmritaCREATE, the Amrita Center for Research in Analytics & Technologies for Education at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, organized a one-day workshop on Online Labs at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ranchi, Jharkhand, on July 15, 2017. Twenty-seven science teachers from eleven schools participated in the workshop.
Dr. P. Ram Manohar, Research Director, Amrita School of Ayurveda, participated in a Panel Discussion on “Integrated Healthcare Models” during FICCI Heal Conference on “Indian Healthcare: The Patient’s View” in New Delhi on 18th August 2017.
