The Amrita Live-in-Labs® program has won the “Innovation by Private University’ award at the 14th World Education Summit, organised by Elets at New Delhi from August 9-10, 2019.
Adding a new milestone, the School of Agricultural Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, was inaugurated on August 9, 2019, by Swami Ramakrishnananda Puri (Mata Amritanandamayi Math), Prof. S. K. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham opened its 6th campus at Chennai on July 29, 2019. As of now, the new campus hosts a School of Engineering offering undergraduate engineering (B.Tech.) programs in Computer Science, Civil, Electronics & Communications, Electrical & Electronics and Mechanical.

Dr. Chandrashekar Janakiram, Professor and Head of the Department of Public Health Dentistry, School of Dentistry, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi, successfully completed a fellowship in Oral Health Informatics (OHI) and a residency in Dental Public Health from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Institutes of Health, USA.
On July 17, 2019, Amrita School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham heartily welcomed its new batch of students in a unique induction program titled “Swagatham 2019”. The day commenced with the lighting of the lamp by each of the new students and placing it at the feet of the statue of Saraswati Devi, Goddess of knowledge, an age-old tradition symbolizing the absence of darkness and ignorance in the light of knowledge.
