Bearing testimony to the brilliance of Amrita students once again, ‘LogiX’, a cutting-edge student innovation has received international acclaim and was featured in the February-April 2019 issue of the QS WOW NEWS, an international newsletter of Quacquarelli Symonds, the agency behind the reputed QS World University Rankings (WUR). No other higher educational institution from India other than IIT Madras features in the prestigious newsletter.
The ‘Team Vision’ and ‘Team Exalt’, two student hackathon teams from the School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, showcased outstanding performances and secured a prominent position among top 20 teams that represented India, in the 30 hour Singapore-India Hackathon 2018.
On January 4, 2019, Dr. Balamurugan S., Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, has been awarded ‘National Innovative Teacher Award’ by the Honourable Minister of HRD, Shri. Prakash Javadekar, at a national awards ceremony conducted in New Delhi.
It was another proud moment for Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham as Mr. Vijey Shrivathsan, B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) 2016-2020 batch from Coimbatore campus became the first student from Amrita to secure the coveted IUSSTF-Viterbi research internship.
Since its inception in 2009, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has been actively engaged in knowledge exchange and activities to share best practices with various higher educational institutions and universities.
On 21st January, 2019, a senior administration team from O. P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat, Haryana, comprising of Dr. Y.S.R. Murthy, Registrar and Dr. Indranath Gupta, Controller of Examinations, visited Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus.
On Thursday, 10th January, 2019, The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham organised its second workshop on the topic ‘Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)’.
As part of the Live-in-Labs® program, Engineering students from Coimbatore campus visited the Dewgain village in Namkum tehsil, Ranchi, Jharkhand. Even though about 90% of the population of Dewgain village are dependent on agriculture, severe water scarcity during the summer months had caused the agricultural yield in the village to go down in recent years.
In an intercollegiate rapid style chess tournament held at Kollam on December 9th, 2018, the Amrita chess team, comprising of four players, grabbed second prize which included Rs. 3000 cash prize, trophies and certificates.
