Amrita Multi Modal Applications and Computer Human Interaction (AMMACHI Labs) was featured in the UNESCO-UNEVOC Promising Practices. AMMACHI Labs offers a programme that uses innovative approaches and modern technology to overcome the obstacles rural women face in terms of access to Technical Vocational Education and Training .

A team from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was at WITS University, South Africa on 4th April, 2017.
Mr. Sreeram Kongeseri, a PhD Student and Research Associate at AMMACHI Labs, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, participated in the 2017 CASOS Summer Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburg, USA, which was conducted from 4th -10th June, 2017.
AMMACHI Labs team along with Amrita SeRVe and Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Manglore, introduced a machine that makes Areca nut plates in Byse village of Karnataka. These eco friendly and biodegradable nut plates are made from the leaves fallen from Areca nut trees. The production of these plates comes in two sizes- 10” & 4.5″. This initiative is expected to generate income for the women in Byse and be a suitable replacement for the widely used plastic plates. The team from Amrita has successfully completed the skill training for the women in Byse village.
The professors of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s research centers, AMMACHI Labs and AmritaCREATE, published book chapters in “Children and Sustainable Development – Ecological Education in a Globalized World”.
RAHA 2016, an International Conference on Robotics and Automation for Humanitarian Applications, was held December 18- 20, 2016, at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus.
