The MBA students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi Campus, were invited to take part in the budget analysis discussions aired by two leading Malayalam television channels- Asianet News and Manorama News, soon after the Union Budget presentation on February 29, 2016. The MBA students asked thought-provoking questions, actively participating in the panel discussions.
On February 24, 2016, Dr. Shyam Diwakar of Amrita School of Biotechnology’s Computational Neuroscience and Neurophysiology Labs addressed students and faculty on how brain circuits function and how we study them as a multi-scale problem investigating neurons, circuits and behavior.
IEEE-PES & IAS, Student Branch Chapter, Amrita school of Engineering (ASE), Bengaluru, organized a one day workshop which included a hands-on session on “Real time Simulation for Modern Industrial Applications” on March 2, 2016. The event was coordinated by Dr. K. Deepa, Convener, Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE and was organized by IEEE Members.
The department of Commerce and Management, School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus, celebrated “Management Day” on February 29, 2016. The day was named “Spandanam 2016”. The event was the effort of the enthusiasm shown by the First Year BBA students to celebrate the Management Day.
A two-day workshop on memory forensics, memory analysis, triage, and the workflow for live RAM analysis was held at the Amrita Center for Cyber Security Systems & Networks, Amrita University from February 11-12, 2016. The workshop was led by Monnappa K.A., Information Security Investigator of CISCO Systems.
The department of Visual Communication of School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru Campus, organized a one- day national level short film festival and competition ‘Cinerama 2016’ for UG students of the campus on February 27, 2016.
The Department of English and Languages in collaboration with the Department of Visual Media and Communication of School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi, organized a two-day national seminar on ‘Cinema and the Formation of Cultural Identities’ from February 25-26, 2016.
A grand harvest festival was held at the campus on February 6, 2016. The State coordinator of ‘SEED’, an initiative of Mathrubhumi, Sri. Vinod, spoke about the success of Mathrubhumi ‘SEED’ programme and congratulated the school on its success with organic farming. Swami Purnamritananda Puri lit the sacred lamp and inaugurated the programme.
As a part of their cultural education class, the first year students of Amrita School of Biotechnology coordinated Sanskar, a charity fundraiser benefitting the children at the Paripalli orphanage located near the school.
Students of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri Campus, won major prizes in several categories at the OMRG 2016 Robotics Contest held at Singapore on February 21, 2016. Twenty-one teams from different countries contested in the final round.
