The Department of Cultural Education conducted a one-day Symposium on Indian History and Culture on 23rd April 2016 at the Ettimadai campus. The symposium received an overwhelming response from the students and faculty community and recorded more than 400 participants. Amrita alumni, parents of students, and teachers and students from colleges and schools in and around Coimbatore also participated in this programme.
The newly-constructed Audio Visual Studio ‘Amritanjali’ was inaugurated by Mr. T. S. Nagabharana, National Award Winner, Producer, Director and Mr. H. R. Ranganath, leading journalist, Chairman and Managing Director, Public TV, at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru campus, on April 25, 2016.
Amrita Students won Cisco’s first-ever “Great Digital India Challenge – iDeate” – an event focused on Internet of Things (IoT) based ideation challenge for India. The first prize for the project SMART WATER includes Rs. 2,50, 000 and was awarded to Amrita School of Engineering Coimbatore’s Akshay, Surya, Parthasarathy and Murali Siva, 3rd year B.Tech. Electrical and Electronics Engineering students.
Dr. Arti Prasad, Chief Division of General Internal Medicine, Chief, Section of Integrative Medicine, Founding Executive Director of UNM Centre for Life UNM HSC Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, gave a class on “Whole Person’s Care – The Role of Integrative Medicine” at Amrita School of Ayurveda.
Dr. Dietmar Jennewein, a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Plastics Engineering, University of Applied Sciences, Darmstadt, Germany visited the Amritapuri and Coimbatore campuses in early 2016.
The School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi, organized ‘Kayikamritam’, a two day sports event, in the campus from April 21-22, 2016.
Dr. Indu M. Menon and Dr. Pooja N., House Surgeons of Amrita School of Ayurveda, participated in the state level competition of “Ayurwiz’3- a National level quiz competition” conducted by Himalaya Herbals and stood first among 7 teams who competed at this level.
Amrita staff member, Sneha Devanand, who works as a Developer trainee at Amrita Center for Cyber Security Systems and Networks as part of IoT and BigData team, performed in the Naadotsav in Bengaluru as a Vainikaa from Kerala.
Brave New Woman in a Brave New World is a series of sensitization programs planned for B.Tech. female students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Coimbatore campus. A program held on April 6,2016, helped the students to understand and appreciate the role of young women personally and in society.
Forest and Wildlife Department along with the student and staff volunteers Mathrubhumi SEED club of the School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus organized a Nature Camp at Athirapally – Vazhchal on April 18, 2016.
