The Rover Phoenix, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Mars Rover team, secured 4th position among the 40 teams in the UK University Rover Challenge (UKURC) held at Manchester, UK from July 23-24, 2016.

The Kochi-based Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (Amrita Hospital) has conducted India’s first double forearm transplant on a 21-year-old youth, Jith Kumar Saji, who lost both his hands below the elbow in 2013 due to electrical burns. This is the third double-hand transplant at the hospital, which is currently the only facility in India with the capability to conduct hand transplants.

On July 26th 2016, the State Higher Education Minister of Uttarakhand, Dr. Indira Hridyesh, launched A-VIEW for all the colleges and state universities. She said, “A-VIEW (Amrita Virtual Interactive E-Learning World) software will be given to all 2300 colleges in Uttarakhand, this A-VIEW technology will help in improving the quality of higher education in the state”.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham recently coordinated the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 program between 10 universities in Europe and 10 universities in India with the final meeting conducted at the University of Porto, Portugal from May 24th-25th, 2016.
A special Carnatic Violin concert led by Mysore Brothers was conducted at Amriteshwari Hall, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus on July 28, 2016 . This highly successful event was co-organized by Samskriti, the cultural wing of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus and SPIC MACAY, the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth
On the occasion of ‘International Yoga Day’, the 1st year students of the Amrita MBA Program, Kochi, participated in the event organized at Regional Sports Centre, Kochi. The program was inaugurated by Union Minister Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and attended by people from all walks of life.
