Field education is the signature pedagogy for social work. Consistent with the mission of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, the students are bestowed with an opportunity to transcend theoretical knowledge by engaging in educational endeavors that helps nurture their skills and appreciate the realities of coping with complex problems in the quest to improve the quality of life and subjective well-being of the society.
Women and children in Kanti village, Haryana celebrated Earthday with support from AMMACHI Labs’ community organizer and facilitator. In this event, all villagers enthusiastically participated and took the pledge to keep their village polythene free and spread awareness about it.AMMACHI Labs and social works students got an opportunity to be part of the 56th annual day celebrations of Muthakara school in Wayanadu, Kerala. It was a goodplatform for the children from vallaramkunnu village to display their singing and dancing abilities. Our team and students helped the kids to perform various programs like folk song, dance, drama, and a skit on Edasseri’s well-known poem ‘Poothapattu’ – The song on the Poltergeist. Pootham, is a folklore idol who appears dancing to the rhythm of drum- beats and short pipes on every courtyard after the summer harvest. Performance of our young village kids were well appreciated by the villagers and shool authorities.
