Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was conferred the UNESCO Chair for Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment by the United Nations (UN) in 2016. The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 in the UN 2030 Agenda envisages achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls to make crucial contributions to progress across all the goals and targets. The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences remains strongly committed to realizing this SDG goal.
The School and its thematic research center, Center for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality (CWEGE), facilitate progressive research in these directions. Our research perspective blends a compassion driven approach with the problem driven iterative method to design and implement technologies that provide solutions to social problems.
