IPA – SF Amrita Student Chapter

IPA – SF is a national forum for pharmacy students under the Indian Pharmaceutical Association. All facets of the Pharmaceutical world: academia, industry, community hospital pharmacy, regulatory affairs are highlighted by IPA. IPA – SF was formed on August 16, 2008 in Mumbai in presence of Former president of India, late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. This body has brought Pharmacy students under one umbrella, where their energies have been synergized towards activities pertaining to the Pharmaceutical world.

The inaugural function of Indian Pharmaceutical Association Student Forum Amrita Student Chapter was on 7th March 2022. It was conducted as an online-offline hybrid session. Various dignitaries of IPA took part in the function. Dr. T.V Narayana, President of IPA joined online and delivered the inaugural address. The key note address was delivered by Dr. P Jayasekhar (President, IPA State branch) and Dr. M.P George, Vice President, IPA Kerala branch, explained the need of conducting various awareness programs. Dr. John Joseph (Secretary IPA Kerala Branch and Principal of Lisie College of Pharmacy) who joined the function physically. Dr. K Krishnakumar (Chairman of education forum, IPA Kerala branch) and Dr. David Paul (Join Secretory, IPA Kerala) joined us online. Mr. Yogendra Kanchapu (National President of IPA SF) gave an overview of IPA SF, thereby giving a clear idea regarding the mission and vision of IPA SF.

Ms. Lakshmi P.K, faculty adviser, Amrita Student Chapter, introduced the chapter members and committee members. This was followed by an interactive session with Mr. M.P George and the chapter members where he motivated them to take initiative for conducting various activities.

Immunization Week 2022

As part of the World Immunization Week 2022 (24th to 30th April 2022), IPA-SF Amrita Student Chapter distributed pamphlets to nearby Anganawadis on 16th-18th May 2022. In connection to the theme of World Immunisation Week 2022, ‘Long Life for All,’ student members organized an awareness campaign to ensure the appropriate administration of vaccines intended for children in the community. Through this awareness program, the chapter aimed to initiate activities at the root level and extend to the national and international level by focusing on immunization against vaccine–preventable diseases, by targeting children to ensure a vaccinated and immune future generation. The pamphlet provided information about the mandatory and optional vaccines for infants and children. After that, members of the group clarified the parents’ queries during a question-and-answer session. This program provided parents with an overview of compulsory and optional vaccinations, their brand, pricing details, the recommended age for vaccination, and the importance of vaccinations.

Career Guidance for Pharmacy Students

A Career Guidance program for Pharmacy students was conducted on 25th of June 2022 in Amrita School of Pharmacy, organized by IPA-SF Amrita student chapter. The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Anil Kumar, Senior Director, Biostatistics in IQVIA accompanied by his colleague. Prakash V.P, Associate Director , Biostatistics in IQVIA. More than 100 students from 3rd and 4th year B. Pharm students along with M. Pharm 2nd years participated in the program.

Mr. Anil Kumar focused mainly on the goals one needed to achieve in life and how one should always be a servant to the nation. He highlighted the importance of self-discipline and proper time management which acts as extra credit both in work life as well as in personal life.

Mr. Prakash V.P narrated few inspiring true events which enlightened on the thought “how necessity is the mother of invention”. There was an interactive session with students where students asked certain doubts to the Chief Guest. Mr. Anil Kumar was kind enough to clear them all with ample amount of patience.

Dr. Sabitha M, Principal of Amrita School of Pharmacy thanked them profusely for their motivating words and urged the students to always keep the points discussed during the program in their mind. The event was concluded by 4: 30 p.m. with the national anthem.
