The School of Computing at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, stands as a center of excellence in computer science education and research. About

Established in 2002, the School of Computing at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, is a hub of excellence in computer science education, research, and innovation. It houses two departments – Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Computer Science and Applications (CSA) – offering cutting-edge programs: BTech in CSE, BTech in CSE (AI), BTech in Data Science & AI, MTech in CSE (AI & ML), MTech in AI, and MCA. 

Accredited by NAAC and contributing to the university’s consistent top positions in the NIRF rankings, the School fosters a vibrant ecosystem of students, researchers, and faculty. Over the years, it has built strong collaborations with leading national and international institutions. Faculty members are actively engaged in high-impact research projects, patent filings, and reputed publications, translating academic excellence into real-world technological advancements. 

With expertise spanning AI, machine learning, data science, cybersecurity, computer vision, and more, the School combines academic rigor with hands-on learning. Its mission is to nurture skilled, ethical, and socially responsible professionals ready to lead in an ever-evolving digital world.

To be acclaimed internationally for excellence in teaching and research in Computer Science & Engineering, and in  fostering a culture of creativity and innovation to responsibly harness state-of-the-art technologies for societal needs. 

Mission

  • To support students in developing a strong foundation in Computer Science and Engineering by fostering analytical and computational thinking and problem-solving skills to equip them for emerging challenges in the field. 
  • To assist students in developing solutions and products for interdisciplinary problems by cultivating curiosity, teamwork, and a spirit of innovation.   
  • To provide opportunities for students to acquire state-of-the-art skills in Computer Science and Engineering through industry internships, collaborative projects, and global exchange programs with institutions of international repute. 
  • To cultivate lifelong learning skills, ethics, moral values, and a spirit of service in order to contribute to society through technology. 
  • To be a premier research-intensive department by providing a stimulating environment for knowledge discovery and creation.  

Academic and Research Excellence 

Our faculty members bring deep academic knowledge and industry experience across key computing domains. The School emphasizes a research-driven approach to learning, equipping students with the ability to address complex real-world challenges through technology. 

Research at the School spans areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computational Biosciences, Cybersecurity, Robotics, and more. Students gain hands-on experience through active involvement in research centers and real-time projects, preparing them for impactful careers in academia, industry, and entrepreneurship. 

Vibrant Student Life

We believe learning goes beyond the classroom. Our students actively participate in a variety of technical clubs and communities, including: 

  • ACM Student Chapter 
  • amFOSS – Free and Open Source Software community 
  • bi0s – India’s leading student cybersecurity club 
  • Esports – Competitive gaming and team-building platform 

These clubs foster peer learning, collaboration, and technical growth, providing platforms to explore interests and build leadership skills. 

The School also proudly hosts the ACM-ICPC programming contest, often referred to as the “Olympics of Programming,” offering a global stage for competitive coding. 

Global Exposure and Collaborations

Our strong network of partnerships with reputed institutions in India and abroad opens up opportunities for internships, joint research, and international academic projects. Students are encouraged to participate in programs like the Google Summer of Code (GSoC), CTSs, Hackathons gaining valuable exposure to global open-source development
