Biomolecular Chemistry

The Tag group is dedicated to providing entities with therapeutic potential by exploring multidisciplinary aspects of chemistry and biology. Their primary focus areas include bioconjugate chemistry, glycobiology, protein chemistry, and the analysis of metabolites, along with the biological activities of new chemical entities. They develop affordable protein chemistry techniques and protocols, which are crucial for advancing various research and therapeutic applications. By combining their expertise in these fields, the Tag group contributes to the development of innovative and cost-effective solutions for addressing complex challenges in the realm of chemistry, biology, and healthcare, ultimately benefiting society through their dedication to scientific exploration and practical advancements.

Vision

To provide entities with therapeutic potential and strategies to develop affordable protein chemistry techniques & protocols.

Mission

The Tag group explores multidisciplinary aspects of chemistry and biology with major focus on bioconjugate chemistry, glycobiology, protein chemistry, analysis of metabolites and biological activities of new chemical entities.

Proposed initiative

  • Evaluate protein chemistry and molecular interactions of biologically important proteins from multiple sources to elucidate their significance in industry/research and to amend the features and quality of these molecules by the use of genetic and protein engineering tools.
  • Synthesis of New Chemical Entities and analysis of their efficacy as antimicrobial, antibiofilm, antivirulent and anticancer agents.
  • Bioconjugate chemistry to develop chromatographic resins for protein purification, assays for protein estimation and visualisation.
  • Developing Antimicrobial surfaces to address Health Care Associated Infections
  • Lectin-sugar biochemistry as a tool for Glycoprotein/ Glycan profiling
