Biology of Cancer Stem Cells – 2

The tumour hierarchical model proposes origin of cancer from a small population of cells having properties of stemness like self renewal and pluripotency. Although, cancer stem cells (CSCs) have been identified in leukemia and solid tumours by surface markers, there is variability in their specificity for isolation of CSCs in a specific tumour. This study aims at a composite approach to identify and characterize ovarian cancer stem cells and their attributes.
