Abstract : pThis paper presents the design, development and implementation of a high power density and improved efficiency Wireless Power Transfer System (WPTS) as applied for Electric Vehicle battery charging. A quasi Zsource inverter (qZSI) is used to accomplish voltage inversion and boost in a single stage, thus reducing the converter size escalating the power density. Further, the compensation and the inductive coupling is enhanced by an apt combination of the passive elements to maintain a stable output voltage irrespective of the variations in load. The design of compensation circuit, logic for qZSI PWM and the boost control are presented. The entire WPT system is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink platform and tested with various boost options and the results are presented. A maximum efficiency of as high as 87 % is achieved with the designed WPT system. © 2018 Academic Press. All rights reserved./p
