Abstract : Gimbal joints are used in high temperature pipe lines of a typical fighter aircraft to provide flexibility required to take care of thermal expansion or contraction. In this typical aircraft under consideration, these Gimbal joints are also used bet ween Engine bleed port and pressure regulative valve to take of engine bleed port expansion or contraction due to high temperature. In the present work, static analysis is carried out for gimbal joint and the software used for modelling is CATIA V5 and analysi s was carried using ANSYS. Before starting analysis, theoretical calculations are carried out. Inconel 625 and 718 material properties are studied to meet the design requirements for the assembly. Gimbal Cup with pin and Gimbal ring was checked for displacements, Von-Mises stresses and Principal stresses for various operating conditions. The results obtained were found to be satisfactory and expansion joint manufacturers association [EJMA] standards were followed. Weight optimisation was obtained after ten iterations.
