Abstract : Social Media describes the phenomena found in participatory and self-expressive websites- such as Facebook, YouTube- where members or participants discuss, reveal, express, and expound on their personal ideas, lives, hopes, and even fantasies for others to see and marvel upon. Social Media is now emerging as a major topic of discussion since it has a great impact on people, mainly the youth. The overall aim of this project is to provide an outlook on the Impact of Social Media on Youth. To achieve this goal, we have conducted an online quantitative and qualitative survey on 100 people of the age group 18-30 years, in and around Kerala, irrespective of gender, education, or field of work. In turn, we received interesting and diverse responses from all of them. The received data was then interpreted both graphically and statistically to provide a clear picture of the concerned topic. It was observed from the study that Social Media and the usage of mobile phones had both positive and negative impacts on people but the negative impacts dominated over the other.
