Abstract : In this paper, we propose a new distribution called two parameter cubic rank transmutation of Lindley distribution by using a cubic rank transmutation map proposed by Granzotto et.al [4]. The proposed distribution is a generalization of the one parameter Lindley distribution. Detailed descriptions of the statistical properties are obtained such as: rth moment, mean, variance, survival and hazard rate functions. Unknown parameters of this distribution are obtained by using the maximum likelihood estimation method. The usefulness of the proposed distribution is illustrated by using a real life data set
