Abstract : Tsunami is a natural phenomenon that causes great losses to human life and society. In this paper, a numerical simulation of tsunami wave is created which can be used to study the impact of tsunami wave on structures. The tsunami simulation is carried out using the commercial simulation software, Abaqus using a coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian approach. In this study, the tsunami wave is simplified as a wave that has risen to certain height as a result of an abrupt disturbance on the ocean surface and then subjected to free fall due to gravity. This project aims to develop a Finite Element model that can contribute towards testing for Tsunami impact resistant structures. The pressure exerted by the Tsunami wave on the structural element is obtained and studied. The analysis from this FE model demonstrates good agreement with the experimental data. Hence this model proves to be efficient in wave propagation simulation. © Research India Publications.
