Abstract : Functionally graded material has a volumetric progressive modification in its structure and is employed in heat exchanger tubes, aerospace, and electrically insulating metal. Motivated by these, the present research investigates the thermal variance in an FGM’s wetted concave fin with the surface convective mechanism. Furthermore, the Laguerre polynomial-based collocation approach (LPCA) is used to approximate the closed-form solution of the considered thermal problem. The appropriate nondimensional variables are applied to the fundamental model of the fin problem to convert it into a nonlinear ordinary differential equation (ODE). The converted ODE is solved with the aid of LPCA. Also, the problem is investigated for the purpose of determining the effect of surface convection and wet conditions on thermal variation in the concave fin. The results of this work explicate that the increase in the convection and wet parameters cause the decrement of the thermal distribution in the fin. © 2024 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
