Abstract : Additive manufacturing is an emerging technique in rapid prototyping and manufacturing of finished goods at low manufacturing costs in the Industry 4.0 scenario. In contrast to subtractive manufacturing, additive manufacturing involves building the component layer by layer using filament or liquid resins. To make further improvements in additive manufacturing, the integration of artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things is carried out to improvise the manufacturing process. There are several types of researches being conducted in the integration of artificial intelligence in additive manufacturing in tool path generation, generative design, support generation, and inspection of 3D printing components. AI-related cyber-physical systems are evolved in AM osmotic mass production techniques. In contrast to the design of the predictive environment in artificial intelligence, the tool path and support generation are predicted using several machine learning and deep learning algorithms. This article reviews the integration of artificial intelligence in additive manufacturing such as fusion deposition method, liquid additive manufacturing, and powder additive manufacturing processes. Moreover, the article exhibits modern and future AI-AM applications.
