Abstract : pSynthesis, characterization and mesomorphic properties of dpyp-linked dicobaloxime of the kind [C15H31-CH2Co(dmgH)2]2-μ-1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane has been reported. This cobaloxime complex was characterized by UV-visible and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy, 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Thermal properties of the complex have been studied by thermo gravimetric and differential thermal analysis. A comparative study of the mesophase formation and thermal stability of the ligand bridged dicobaloxime with long alkyl chain complexes has been reported. Liquid crystalline properties of these complexes were observed by differential scanning calorimetry and polarizing optical mircroscopy. Liquid crystalline properties of these compounds profoundly depend on the axial alkyl chain length. © 2017 Elsevier Ltd./p
