Abstract : The heterocyclic metallomesogen was derived from nickel (II) complexand Schiff base ligand. The target compound and its ligand were characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR spectroscopy and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The spectral details were in accordance with the structure. The low value of molar conductance revealed the non-electrolytic nature of metallomesogen. The cyclic voltammetric studies explained the oxidation state of Ni(III) to Ni(II). Polarized microscopic investigation revealed the presence of Nematic and Smectic texture. Further investigation with DSC measurements confirmed the mesophase formation. It was observed that the difference in clearing temperatureand suppression of mesophaseof complex when compared to ligand was due to lack of flexibility in complex
