Abstract : As the global trend towards electric vehicles is rising at a faster rate, concurrently there is increasing demand for fast charging of Li-ion batteries for electric vehicles. The two important internal battery parameters like SoC and SoH are estimated using a battery management system. The primary duties of the battery management system of a battery include protecting battery against excessive voltage, current, temperature, and undervoltage and also maintaining battery cell voltage balance. The main aim of this paper is to focus on the best method to approach for estimation of battery’s SoC as well as presents the best strategies for quick charging in relation to SoC. It also emphasizes on details on the types of charging like slow charging, ultra-fast charging, and extremely fast charging with brief review of SoC, its estimation and its ultimate impact on the user.
